Maple Park Lutheran Brethren Church

Maple Park, Washington

The original building for Maple Park Lutheran Brethren Church was constructed in three phases in the 1960s and 1970s, totaling about 13,000 square feet, with a sanctuary seating about 330 people. With the later purchase of an adjoining three-acre parcel, planning for continued facility expansion began in earnest. The resulting master plan proposed a multiple-phase project, the first phase being a new foyer, restrooms, nursery, and classrooms, working around the existing sanctuary.

Construction had just begun on the phase-I project when an arsonist's fire dramatically changed the scope of work. Rather than repair the fire-damaged original sanctuary, it was demolished and a new, larger sanctuary planned to replace it.
